Later this month, wine lovers will be able to enjoy the newly released bottling of the improved Maltese Falcon wines from the Delicata winery, which have been upgraded to single varietals. Whereas in previous vintages, the white and the red have been made from blends, now they are both produced from 100% noble grape varieties, Chardonnay and Merlot respectively. For the present, the Maltese Falcon Merlot will remain with the 2009 vintage, whereas the Maltese Falcon Chardonnay will be from the 2010 vintage, as will the Rose Gellewza. All three wines are of I.G.T. Maltese Island classification. The new Chardonnay is fruity, crisp and full flavoured and ideal with white meats, poultry and seafood dishes. The new Merlot is soft, mellow and full bodied and makes the perfect accompaniment to red meats, pizza, pasta and rabbit dishes. |
