For the 2010 vintage the Delicata winery is opening up its doors on specific dates; to anyone who would like to witness the pressing of this years wine grapes and get a detailed explanation of how it’s done by the professionals. Three experts from Delicata who make up ‘The Press Gang’ will make themselves available on Tuesdays 17th, 24th and 31st August to guide visitors through the process. The number of people who can be accommodated at each pressing is limited and therefore entry will be strictly by reservation only.
 
At 09.30 a.m. sharp each Tuesday ‘The Press Gang’ will be standing by to greet each group of wine enthusiasts as they arrive. Following an introduction, Dione Caruana will inspect the varieties of the day and deliver his ‘grape expectations’ for the 2010 harvest. A ‘pressing engagement’ with Dr. Edric Bonello will then follow, where he will explain in detail the winemaking process every step of the way. Finally Bill Hermitage will ‘juice up’ the event with a tasting of the freshly pressed grapes together with wines that have passed before. The ‘Press Gang’ will aim to finish their detailed explanation of Delicata’s thorough, state-of-the-art grape and winemaking quality procedures by around midday – grape harvest permitting. More viewing dates will be announced later once the actual harvesting dates have been finalised, but anyone interested in attending are strongly advised to telephone early to avoid disappointment.
