Delicata’s two 2010 vintage single varietal D.O.K. Malta flagship white wines, Gran Cavalier Sauvignon Blanc Maceration Pelliculaire and Gran Cavalier Barrel Fermented Chardonnay Superior will be released from the winery next week. Both wines have been awarded D.O.K. Malta status with the Chardonnay receiving Superior classification due to its achieved higher degree of natural alcohol. The Sauvignon Blanc also carries the classification ‘Maceration Pelleculaire’ due to the pre fermentation skin contact the juice receives during production which imparts more varietal flavour and character to the end wine. The Chardonnay carries the term ‘Barrel Fermented’ which indicates that the wine (min 45%) has undergone its fermentation process in oak barrels.
