This week an exciting new sweet wine has been released by Emmanuel Delicata, a Grand Vin de Hauteville Moscato D.O.K. Malta Liqueur Wine in an elegantly packaged 50cl clear glass bottle. This unique, opulent, dessert wine is made entirely from hand picked Malta grown Moscato grapes and is rich and full flavoured. With 15% alcohol, this is Malta’s very first ‘home grown’ D.O.K. Liqueur wine.
The wine will form part of Delicata’s premium award winning wine range, Grand vin de Hauteville which has in it, an un-oaked Viognier, an oak aged Chardonnay, a barrel matured blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon and a barrel matured Cabernet Sauvignon made entirely from late picked grapes, all in 75cl bottles. The new Moscato however, comes in a convenient 50cl bottle. This 4 glass bottle is the ideal size for a wine to accompany a dessert at the end of a meal, when a full 6 glass 75cl bottle might be a little to much. This delicious sweet wine as well as making the ideal pairing wine for most desserts is also ideal with rich pate’s, foie gras and many cheeses especially blue cheeses such as Roquefort, gorgonzola and stilton.
Another advantage with regard to this sweet wine, is that if you don’t drink it all in one go, the wine will remain in good condition even though its been opened, because of its sweetness and 15% alcohol, for up to 3-4 weeks. Simply stick the cork back in and ideally keep in the fridge. This is especially good news for wine bar owners and restaurateurs who want to serve a dessert wine by the glass but are afraid of wastage.
This wine is at its best when served well chilled and will especially appeal to any lovers of Delicata’s other sweet white wine Casella Moscato.
