This Sunday night (31st) a profusion of authentic Maltese food will form part of an extensive buffet spread that will be laid out in Mgarr village square, all prepared by Il – Barri restaurant. Although open to everybody, the event’s main aim is to be a social gathering for anybody from the Australian / Maltese community. Back in the Land of Oz, there is a well-known Rock ‘n’ Roll artist with Maltese origins Charles Curmi and this event is his initiative in an effort to bring together members of that community.
Il- Barri restaurant will be serving up delicious Maltese dishes such as traditional appetizers, baked rice, pasta with rabbit sauce, soups, traditional rabbit in gravy, horsemeat, roasted quails, bragoli, swordfish, etc and a selection of sweets and fresh fruits from the village. The wines chosen to accompany these dishes are all from the Medina D.O.K. Malta range of quality wines produced by award winning winemaker, Emmanuel Delicata. The wines available are the outstanding 2010 Vintage Medina Sauvignon Blanc, the fruit packed 2010 Medina Rose' Grenache and the fruity, light bodied, Medina Syrah Carignan Grenache. Live music is by Roc-a-Tac, an Australian Rock ‘n Roll band who will be entertaining the crowd with one of their typically energetic shows that is guaranteed to get people of all ages up on their feet, so they can dance the night away. They will be playing live rock music from Rockabilly, Country Rock, and Rhythm & Blues.
Three food and wine combinations to try out is definitely the Swordfish and the Medina Sauvignon Blanc, the Medina Rose Grenache with the baked rice and the Medina Syrah Carignan Grenache with either the rabbit or the roast quail. |
