Earlier this week a Korean delegation, including a number of Honorary Consulates, visited the Delicata winery for a tour of the facilities and a wine tasting. The visit was instigated following a successful visit to Hong Kong last year by Michael Delicata, whereby a meeting with the Honorary Consulate of Malta Kwang Yong Ly, resulted in the first exportation of Delicata wines to the Far East.  Four of the Malta grown wine brands were exported to Seoul in Korea, the Grand Vin de Hauteville, Victoria Heights of Gozo, Medina and the Maltese Falcon. During their visit to the Delicata winery in Marsa, the Honorary Consulates were also given a tutored wine tasting by Mr. Georges Meekers in the company’s 17th century barrel maturation cellars, where they tasted a number of wines that have received the newly introduced I.G.T. and D.O.K classifications. Following the visit the Hon. Consulate of Malta was presented with a book on the wines of Malta and a bottle of the Delicata 2006 Gran Cavalier Chardonnay which recently won a Bronze Medal at the Chardonnay du Monde in Burgundy, France.
