Between the hours of 10.00am and 6.00pm on Sunday 28th March 2010, Malta’s largest and oldest award winning winemaker Emmanuel Delicata, will be opening up its winery doors for its very first official Open Day.

The winery which is located on the waterfront in Marsa will be open to all members of the general public, including tourists. On arrival at the winery, visitors will be handed a brochure entitling them to 3 free tastings of wine together with a site map directing them along Delicata’s ‘Path of Quality Winemaking’.

To enable visitors to receive their 3 free wine tastings they will be required to place a €1 deposit on a wine glass (at the glass stand just after the entrance) which is totally refundable on return of the undamaged glass. The 3 free glasses of wine can be taken from any of the Pjazza Regina , Maltese Falcon, Medina, Victoria Heights, Grand vin de Hauteville, Gran Cavalier stands or directly from selected stainless steel wine vats which contain D.O.K.wines from the latest unreleased 2009 vintage.   

Visitors will be able to view Delicata’s winemaking facility in its entirety with explanations along the way describing the transformation that takes place all the way from the ‘Vine to the Wine’. This will include Delicata’s grape receiving and accreditation bay, the grape pressing facility, red wine tank farm, fermentation halls, filtration unit, laboratory, bottling hall, bag in box and combibloc production unit, stores, returnable bottle collection point and wine barrel maturation cellars.

Other wine facilities that will be available on Sunday 28th March include: A selection of over 20 D.O.K. and I.G.T. Maltese & Gozitan wines to taste from; Tastings of the new 2009 vintage wine directly from the wine vats; Tours along the ‘Path of Quality Winemaking’ which winds throughout the winery; An ongoing audio visual presentation of the art of winemaking; Delicata Wine Shop’s where visitors can buy individual bottles at bargain prices; A Food area with a selection of mouth watering foods and a Children’s area.
