Two weeks before the Delicata Classic Wine Festival moves to the viticultural heart of Gozo, Nadur, Managing Director George V. Delicata has released a statement announcing record attendance levels on all four nights of the winemaking company’s main event, which took place recently at the upper Barrakka gardens in Valletta.
The event which is estimated to have had close to 28,000 visitors over the four evenings was a great success. “We are delighted with this years attendance levels” Mr. Delicata said. “Even though our festival clashed with other local events such as the August Moon Ball, Hamrun’s San Gejtanu and the Rod Stewart concert only days before, the Maltese people still managed to find time to ‘squeeze’ us in, and for that we are grateful” he said. “The other noticeable trait was the strong attendance of tourists attending on all four nights, but especially on the Thursday and Friday. Plus in addition to that we are thrilled with the positive coverage our festival has received from overseas TV and radio stations. Last year we had coverage from Sky and this year the event was covered by a travel broadcaster from the BBC and CNBC World TV which has a worldwide audience of 390 million people”
Jody Ness, the TV host of CNBC Worlds Wine Portfolio programme posted these comments on his Facebook page “While in Malta, we attended Delicata’s annual ‘Classic Wine Festival 2010’ WHAT an amazing night”. “I have to say Malta absolutely makes great wines”.
