SUCKLING PIG & SANGIOVESE
04.09.2009

Food and wine pairing is a great way to pass the time, especially when you can do it on a warm summers night in an idyllic Gozitan village like Nadur. With an assortment of foods available and over 20 Delicata quality wines to choose from there is bound to be at least one food and wine combination that will ‘tickle those taste buds’ and all of this is available at this weekends Delicata Classic Wine Festival which kicks off at 7.00pm tonight.

The festival which is held in close collaboration with Nadur local council will have gastronomic delights such as; Suckling pig, which will go down really well with a glass of Medina Sangiovese; Gozitan rabbit ‘L’Aragosta style’ with the new Pjazza Regina red; Xi Xi’s Oriental selection with either the Medina Vermentino Zibibbo or the delicious Pjazza Regina Rose; Fresh ravioli with a full flavoured white like Gran Cavalier Sauvignon Blanc; Gozitan Ftira with the Maltese Falcon and incredible desserts created by Maypole with the lusciously sweet Casella Moscato.

Other wines to look out for are Gozo’s very own D.O.K. wine Victoria Heights. Both the award winning Chardonnay, which picked up a Bronze medal at this years Chardonnay du Monde in Burgundy France, and the Commended Rose Shiraz will be there. Delicata’s superb range of three I.G.T. wines Pjazza Regina will also be on show as well as the company’s flagship reds Grand vin de Hauteville Cabernet Sauvignon and Gran Cavalier Syrah.

There is live entertainment every night from 8.00pm until midnight with Steve Cole and he will be joined by other artists throughout the weekend including Cash and Band, Spectrum, Mistaken Identity, Maltasalsa, Thea, Alessia and Renato.

For the people of Malta who wish to visit the festival, simply leave your car at Cirkewwa, take the ferry across and make use of the shuttle service that is operating between Mgarr and the festival for just €2.00 per person return trip.
