SIRLOIN STEAK
Wine accompaniment:
2006 GRAND VIN DE HAUTEVILLE SHIRAZ CABERNET OF GOZO.
This is a simple ‘no frills’ combination of full-bodied red wine and a nice juicy steak. The steak is simply marinated with ingredients that just make it taste and cook better, followed by being grilled. The way you grill will affect the end taste but in most instances a full-bodied red wine is what you will need. Even the potatoes and vegetables offer clean uncomplicated flavours. This dish is just about good beef and good red wine. The Shiraz Cabernet that I have chosen also has some oak aging, together with some bottle age. That means that the tannins will be soft but the fruitiness still very pronounced in what is after all still a relatively young red wine.
