Winemaking at Delicata

Winemaking in Malta has gone through a revival in recent years and at the forefront of that transformation is the islands’ oldest and largest winemaker Emmanuel Delicata. The wines they create reflect everything a modern wine consumer requires, fruit driven fresh wines that offer flavour, consistency and quality. The world’s leading wine magazine DECANTER said of them “One of the major influences on the Maltese wine industry, Emmanuel Delicata has helped bring modern technology and vineyard upgrading to the islands.” It is that technology and upgrading that now gives their unique wines an exciting, new ‘Fresh Taste of Malta’. In recent years their wines have received over 60 international awards including Gold and Silvers in Bordeaux, Burgundy and London.

These refreshingly new fruit driven Malta wines are produced from grapes grown in over 380 dedicated family run vineyards, all selected and managed by Delicata’s team of expert viticulturalists. In addition to this, even more vineyards are growing Malta’s indigenous grape varieties exclusively for Delicata. These unique Maltese grapes play a vital role in the winemaking philosophy of this one hundred year old, fourth generation winemaker who has been championing their existence and revival for many years.
