2020 Delicata Classic Wine Festivals Cancelled

Posted by on May 18, 2020 in Releases, The Winemaker's Journal, Winery

We are sorry to announce that the 19th Delicata Classic Wine Festival in Malta, scheduled for 2 to 5 July 2020 at the Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valletta, will have to be cancelled because of the COVID-19 situation.

The Gozo edition of Delicata’s wine festival in Nadur, planned for 21, 22 and 23 August 2020, won’t be held either.

2020 will be an enforced fallow year for what is known as the country’s grandest wine festival. But the decision to call it off has been taken judiciously with the health and safety of everyone in mind.

The cancellation of this year’s 19th edition of the Delicata Classic Wine Festival will come as a disappointment not only to all of us at Delicata and our many helpers, but also to the entertainers, caterers, charity partners, suppliers, sponsors, the Valletta community and tens of thousands of wine enthusiasts from Malta and beyond our shores.

We were looking forward to welcoming thousands of festival revellers at the Upper Barrakka Gardens again, with a great line up of delicious wines, fantastic performers and talented chefs that we were incredibly proud to have booked.

We very much hope that this period of unprecedented uncertainty will pass quickly.

Our enthusiasm is as great as ever and we look forward to an ever grander Delicata Classic Wine Festival in Malta next year, in the summer of 2021.

In the meantime, we at Delicata express our respect and gratitude for the healthcare professionals and all the courageous people who are doing everything possible to care for the community during these most difficult times.
